Ret. First Sgt. Eduardo G. Gomez

First Sgt. Eduardo “Eddie” Gomez, (RET) of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2016 following surgery.  Born in the Philippines on August 11, 1953 to Simplicio and Victoria Gomez.  He was enlisted in the United States Army from 1971 to 1997.

Eddie loved God, his family, and the U.S. Army.  He went on to have a successful 26-year military career with multiple overseas deployments, including support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

He was an avid traveler and loved visiting family and friends.  He and his beloved bride chose to live out his days in North Carolina where he shared his love of the Lord with his church family.  His greatest joy was traveling around the world to see family, especially his children and grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Nellie, his three children, Jonathan, Rose, and Edward, and his nine grandchildren, Nathan, Makayla, Luis, Troy, William, Quintin, Matthew, Cyrus, Benjamin.

A viewing will be held from 10-10:45 am prior to the service on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Main Post Chapel Building #1-1510 on the Corner of Sedgewick and Alexander St., Fort Bragg NC 28307.  A military funeral service and eulogy will be held at 11:00 am  at the Fort Bragg Main Post Chapel, followed by full military burial at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at a reception hosted by Fayetteville Christian Church at 4308 Rosehill Road, Fayetteville, NC 28311 following the burial.
