Philip Forrest McGirt, Jr.

Philip Forrest McGirt, Jr., 73 of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.

He was born July 1, 1944 in Bennettsville, SC to the late Mr & Mrs. P. F. McGirt. He was reared in Rowland, NC, and graduated from Campbell University and Appalachian State University.

He resided in Fayetteville for 50 years. He was employed by Cumberland County Schools for 48 years where he was Driver Education Coordinator & teacher. He was also Executive Secretary for the SE State Dr. Ed. Association for many years.

Mr. McGirt had accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a Billy Graham Rally and was a member of Village Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two children, Rev. Mike McGirt (Tonya) of Aynor, SC and Jenny Brown (Lee) of Enterprise, Ala.; three grandchildren, Cameron & Caleb McGirt and Hayley Brown; and one sister, Judy Carter (Marshall) of Rowland.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Village Baptist Church, Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 amwith Rev Michael McGirt, Dr. Bruce Martin and Dr. Richard Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:45 am to 10:45 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Village Baptist Church Renovations, 906 S. McPherson Church Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28303.
