Oscar L. Norris

Oscar L. Norris, 79, of Carolina Beach passed away on Wed. Sept. 30. 2015 at home surrounded by his wife, his family and his two dogs, Prissy and Molly. 

He was born Dec. 6, 1935 in Fayetteville, son of Andrew Carroll and Celie Norris. He is survived by his loving wife and friend, Joan; sons, Kenneth Norris and wife, Myra, and Michael Norris; daughters, Deborah Hooker and husband, Barry, and Stephanie Norris; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Susan Holt.

Oscar graduated from Linden High School. He served in the NC Army National Guard. As a young man, he began a long career in business as a Real Estate Developer. In the past he was an owner of L&O Investments, Inc., United Realty, Fayetteville Wholesale Building Supply, and several other businesses. Prior to his death, he was involved in the development of multi-family housing. He was one of the founders of the Fayetteville Academy, served on the board of Highland Savings and Loan, and TV-40 in Fayetteville.

Oscar was a family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, and hosting social gatherings. He was always willing to help anyone in need. All of his family and friends will miss him dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Fri. Oct. 2, 2015 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Everette officiating. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thurs. Oct. 1, 2015 at the funeral home.
