Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Frances Lethgo

March 16, 1928 ~ August 16, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Mary Frances Lethgo, 89, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

She is survived by her sons, Will Lethgo of Tampa, Fla. and Robert Lethgo and wife, Martina of Kronberg, Germany; and her four grandchildren, Nathan, Carolyn, Bailey and Rebecca.

Frances was born in a small town in Oklahoma during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. The experience of her early years formed a woman that was strong willed and strong bodied. She flourished, married her high school sweetheart, and because he’d chosen a career in the military, she was able to travel the world. She left that small town right after WW II and was able to go to Japan with her husband, Wayne, during the period of occupation. When the war in Korea broke out, she served as a volunteer in the hospitals in Japan helping wounded soldiers returning from the combat zone. On returning to the states, she traveled through countless states and moved many times to many different states. She also spent a couple of years in Germany, but finally put down roots in Fayetteville where she has resided for the last 30 years. She raised two sons that adored her as she did them. She was a kind, loving, caring mother and the backbone of the family. Her journey through the world ends with a final return to that small town in Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the chapel with Rev. Archie Barringer officiating. Burial will be held at 2 pm Monday, August 28, 2017 in Altus City Cemetery Altus, Okla.
