Mary Elizabeth (Saleeby) Council

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Council, 88, of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Mary Elizabeth Saleeby Council was born May 20, 1928 in Fayetteville and graduated Fayetteville Senior High School class of 1946. She was a bookkeeper for 30 years with Southern Furniture Company. Mrs.Council was a faithful member of the Church of the Open Door.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Saleeby and Julia Saleeby; her husband, Max Council, Jr. who passed in 1960; and her brothers, Nicholas, Jacob and Maurice Saleeby.

She was loved by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who are left to cherish her memory. They are her two sons, Albert Max Council and wife, Carmen of Conyers, Ga. and Dr. Thomas M. Council and wife, Mitzi of Toccoa, Ga.; two daughters, Aleeta W. Williams and husband, Hosea of Fayetteville and Shirlene Rene Carrion and husband, Rev. Randy Carrion of Village Mills, Texas; a sister, Hilda G. Saleeby of Fayetteville; 16 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

 A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday, May 1, 2017 in Church of the Open Door with Rev. John Wixtrom officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm prior to the service at the church.
