Frances Scates (Hammond) Agaliotis

Frances Scates Agaliotis, 84, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Wilmington, NC.

Frances was born in Bristol, TN to Kelly and Estelle Hammond on October 18, 1930. She graduated valedictorian from Tennessee High School and was an avid reader throughout her life. She will be remembered for her love of history, antiques, and books. She enjoyed her travels around the world as a military wife before settling in Fayetteville.

She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that will be missed by all. Those grandchildren were the apple of her eye. They learned to appreciate literature, history, antiques and knowledge through Frances.

Frances is preceded in death by her two husbands, Dave Wilson Scates and Louis Agaliotis; son, Phillip Scates; Grandson, Christopher Scates; sister, Katherine Hammond Bourne; and parents.

Frances is survived by four of her five children, Brenda Scates Batton, David Scates, Gloria Scates Edwards, and Ann Scates McGee; four siblings, Geneva Dillard, Patsy Kegley, John Hammond, and Gloria Lovegrove; She has seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service, will be held 11 am Saturday July 25, 2015 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday July 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
