Ellen (Mottesheard) Fowler

Ellen Fowler, 79, passed away on August 15, 2016, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born September 3, 1936 in Lewisburg, W Va., she was the only child of the late Charles and Georgia Mottesheard. 

Mrs. Fowler graduated from West Virginia University where she met and married Ronald Fowler, her husband of 57 years, who was by her side from the day they wed until she passed. She was an active member of The Haymount United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the fellowship of friends.

Ron and Ellen started their family in Aiken, S.C., but had resided in Fayetteville for the last 38 years. They enjoyed many visits to their mountain home in Paint Bank, Va.

In addition to her husband, Ronald, Mrs. Fowler is survived by two sons, Michael (Emine) and Joe (Brooke) both of Greensboro. She was so proud of the young men they had become and was happiest when she was with or talking about her two grandchildren, Gibson and Georgia both of Greensboro.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 20, 2016 in  Haymount United Methodist Church with a visitation of friends to follow.
