Elizabeth “Beth” Thompson Watson, 85, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at Village Green Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Fayetteville. 

Beth was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 2, 1932, to the late Dr. D.O. Thompson and Elizabeth Fife Thompson. She graduated from Auburn University, and upon moving to Fayetteville, worked for many years in real estate and insurance sales. She was a loving mother, stepmother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by those she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Jones Watson. 

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Joyner and husband, Bill of Fayetteville; sons, Stuart Watson and wife, Denise Dobyns of Belmont and David Watson and wife, Donna of Hope Mills; two stepdaughters, Marion Watson and husband, Mark Wishart of Columbia, S.C. and Kate Marsh of Lexington, S.C.; grandchildren, David Joyner and wife, Carrie of Fayetteville, Adam Joyner of Fayetteville, Ted Dobyns and wife, Shelaya of Alameda, Cali., Elizabeth Watson of Charleston, S.C., Sarah Watson of Hope Mills, Sam Watson of Charlotte and Austin Marsh of Columbia, S.C.; and one great-grandson, Nolan Joyner of Fayetteville.

Beth was also “mother” to a long line of furry, four-legged “children,” including her beloved German shepherd, Cleo and greyhound, Fannie Mae.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local SPCA or animal rescue organization. 

The family will have a private graveside service at Lafayette Memorial Park on Friday, February 23, 2018.
