 CSM (ret) Charles L. Brandon Sr., 83, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in First Health Hospice Care of Pinehurst.

Charles "Chuck" L.  Brandon Sr. was born on July 16, 1931, to the late Burtus and Lilly Brandon of Nacogdoches, Texas.

Chuck joined the Army in 1948 where he had a very successful career retiring after 30 years of service achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War, and the Dominican Republic and numerous other worldwide deployments.

 His awards and decorations include, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Special Forces Tab, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Bonze Star Medal, and numerous other awards. Chuck was a Master Mason of 46 years and an avid outdoorsman.  He also spent his free time volunteering for several Veteran organizations.

Mr. Brandon  is survived by his son SFC Charles Brandon Jr. and wife Kelly; two grandsons, Joshua and Charlie  and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the JFK Chapel on Ardennes St & Zabitosky St. on Fort Bragg. Interment will follow with full military honors at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Rogers and Breece funeral home.
