CSM Patrick (P.J.) Joseph Vigoletti, US Army (Ret.) passed away Good Friday, March 30, 2018 in his home.
Patrick was born in Freeland, Pa. February 16, 1929 to Italian immigrant parents, Michael and Antoinette (DiPietro) Vigoletti.
Patrick was a soldier's soldier. He was a decorated Airborne paratrooper who served in the US Army for twenty seven years. His service included two tours in Viet Nam. After retiring from the Army he embarked on a twenty year career as a supervisor for the Cumberland County Department of Social Services.
His passion for the outdoors began at an early age. Pat was an avid hunter well- known for his excellent marksmanship, and he walked the woods in Pennsylvania and North Carolina for most of his life. He also loved fishing, especially for trout. An ideal day for him would be when the fish were biting in the streams near West Jefferson, NC.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Ivy Vigoletti. Patrick is the beloved father of three daughters, Toni Faircloth and partner, Jim Gilio of Fayetteville, Patricia Linkous and husband, Daniel of Fayetteville and Lisa Lange and husband, Douglas of Florence, S.C. His family also includes six beautiful grandchildren and ten wonderful great grandchildren.
Patrick was predeceased by Gloria Dawn Vigoletti, his wife of over fifty years and the mother of his children. He was also the final member of a family of sixteen children, all of whom lived in Pennsylvania.
P.J. will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered by family and friends for his easy going personality, beautiful smile, and his twinkling blue eyes.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A burial with full military honors will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southeastern Hospice House 1100 Pine Run Dr. Lumberton, NC 28358 or a charity of your choosing.
