Barbara Baker (Baker) Chapa

Mrs. Barbara Baker Chapa, 82, of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017.

She was born on June 7, 1935 in Southern Pines and grew up in Broadway.  She attended Boone Trail High School and graduated from Greensboro Business College.

Barbara retired after 33 years of Federal Civil Service, she distinguished herself as a transportation officer serving at numerous military posts, before culminating at Fort Bragg.  She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and New Testament Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

She was a loving wife to husband, Daniel V. Chapa, Sr.; mother to son, Daniel V. Chapa, Jr. and daughter, Donna Chapa; grandmother to Charles Alexander Chapa, James Daniel Chapa and Elizabeth Chapa; sister-in-laws, Delia Chapa Reyes, Mimi Chapa Pedraza, Bobbie Angel Baker and Judy Badgett Baker; and many nieces and nephews.  Barbara leaves behind her beloved dachshunds, Bo and Oscar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander "Red" Landis Baker and Lucy Mae Baker; her two brothers, Everette Norman "Sonny" Baker, Sr. and Jerome L. "Jerry" Baker, Sr.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, July 24, 2017 in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Bone and Pastor Tom Counts officiating.  Burial will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Broadway.  The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
